| Hi from Australia. The WEB site looks great.
I am a decendent of the Creack family of Temple going back to at least 1680.
When Thomas Creak died in Wester Whitrig in Eccles in 1849 aged 85 he left land and houses in Temple to his second wife Jane Gibson Craik. He shifted his main residence to Eccles in 1835.
The original name was Creack in Temple but it varied and was often Craik.
The land he owned is described in the will. Thomas Creak was born in Temple in 1763 the son of William Creak and Mary Sanders.
The earliest marriage in my Tree is Thomas Craich/k and Agnes Smith on 25th May 1708.
The photos are fantastic and of great interest to a large family here and in USA who follow my research.
I quote the Temple land description as I am sure it will be of interest to others.
Drawn in 1844 death in 1849.
"The Whole piece of ground lying on the west side of the street of the Village of Temple tending to ninety feet and one half of a foot from south to north and ninety feet and one half foot from east to west or thereby together with the houses built thereon bounded bounded the said piece of ground and dwelling houses by the said street of the said Village of Temple on the east by the road leading from the Village to the ground called the Feuars acres on the south by the acres on the west and by the ground belonging to John Hastie in the north. Lying within the Parish of Temple and the Sheriffdom of Mid Lothian together with all right and Title interest.".
It runs to 21 pages but that is the Temple part. Let me know if a copy is required.
I was very lucky as I found similar documents about my family in Penicuik.
Not the Creack family but again tracing back to Archibald Craig who lived in the "Tower of Pennicook "in 1654.
